When it comes to rock music, everyone has his own preferences and references. Whether you enjoy old rock bands like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Nirvana or Guns N Roses or you prefer the fresh sound of newer bands, rock probably remains the most listened-to music genre of all times.
True rock music has revolutionized generations of people across the globe and, for decades, living like a rock star has become a true modus vivendi for many. And, although you cannot compare the true rock legends with the type of rock the newer generation listens to, I guess it’s only fair to share my list of today’s most important rock bands.
With over 20 years of experience, Coldplay remains the most remarkable band of the new wave of rock bands. This alternative rock and piano-rock British band consists of four members, with the leader being the charismatic Chris Martin.
The band has released seven studio albums so far, with the latest one, “A Head Full of Dreams”, launched in 2015. The album was followed by a world tour in the following two years.
Although there are rumors saying Coldplay has transitioned to a rather pop-rock genre in the past few years, the band remains one of the most successful ones in the world nevertheless.
I don’t know what is it with Brits and rock music, but Arctic Monkeys is just one of the many legendary rock bands that were born and raised in the UK.
Formed back in 2002, Arctic Monkeys features Alex Turner as the lead vocal, Matt Helders on drums and vocals, Jamie Cook on guitar, and Nick O’Malley on bass and backing vocals.
Their unique sound has been characterized in many ways as the band claims it has indie rock, garage rock, and post-punk influences. The band likes to experiment with new genres and sounds so that each of their albums speaks the same rock language with numerous other influences.
Arctic Monkeys has released five studio albums so far, with the latest one, “AM”, in 2013. The album was also followed by a successful tour in 2013 and 2014. Some of the band’s most notorious successes include popular songs like “R U Mine?” or “Do I Wanna Know?”
Formed in 2012, this Icelandic blues and rock band already managed to rise to fame in the past two years.
The charismatic leader of the band, JJ Julius Son, was born in 1991 but he already has an amazingly strong and profound voice which is worth listening to. The band’s most notorious song, “Way Down We Go”, has already benefited from a wide media coverage and has been featured in a series of Hollywood movies and TV shows hits like “Logan”, “The Originals”, “Suits”, “Orange Is The New Black” or “Supergirl”.
The artists of Kaleo moved to the US in 2015 and they have become a regular presence at all major national and international music festivals, including Lollapalooza and Coachella.
